In the shifting landscape of contemporary India, the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya has not only become a symbol of religious fervor but also a source of deep concern for the country’s Muslim population. In this blog post, we will explore the significance of the Ram Temple for Muslims, examining the prevailing sense of alienation and fear that has permeated their lives in the wake of this monumental event.

History of Babri Masjid
The Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi dispute has been a prolonged controversy spanning over 20-25 years. Even looking further back, the dispute has a much longer history. Finally, when the decision came from the court and the construction of the temple is underway, a new spectacle has started – claiming that Babur demolished the Ram Temple, although there is no evidence supporting this assertion. Even the court’s verdict does not validate such claims. Apart from this, there are numerous historical pieces of evidence. Therefore, we thought it is time to address the entire issue and provide a remedy. Once you learn the truth, whether you accept it or not becomes your own concern. With statements from Dr. Ruchika, you will understand who built the Babri Masjid, whether the temple was destroyed, and what the court’s decision actually said, along with a complete historical detail.
Archaeologist B.P. Lal conducted excavations in Ayodhya between 1979 and 1980, attempting to gather evidence to support the historical aspects mentioned in Valmiki Ramayana. However, Lal did not find any evidence in the oldest layers of Ayodhya’s excavation dating back to more than the 8th century BCE. This means that the archaeological findings in Ayodhya do not align with the structures and lifestyle described in the Valmiki Ramayana for the relevant time period.
The first excavation in Ayodhya was conducted by Alexander Cunningham, the first Director-General of the Archaeological Survey of India, in 1862-1863. His findings revealed two stupas and a Buddhist vihara. One stupa, according to Cunningham, was built during the reign of Mauryan Emperor Ashoka. Historians Kunal Chakravarti, Romila Thapar, Sudhir Kakar, and others assert that the inscriptions from the 5th to 8th centuries found at the site suggest that Ayodhya’s mention is there, but not for the devotees of Lord Rama. Initially, Ayodhya was considered a birthplace for the fourth Jain Tirthankar as per Jain traditions, rather than being associated with Rama’s birth.
Jataka tales, which are a collection of Buddhist stories compiled between 300 BCE and 400 AD (though some were written as late as 1890), state that King Dasharatha and his son Rama’s capital was Varanasi, not Ayodhya. Furthermore, Farah Bakhsh, in his 1720-1819 records from Faizabad district, which includes Ayodhya, does not mention any temple in Ayodhya. His accounts, from the 1862-63 Ayodhya excavation, also do not provide any evidence of a temple being demolished to build the Babri Masjid.
